Free to Power Purchase Agreements from June 1, for new investments in electricity generation
Romanian Government has adopted an Emergency Ordinance to amend the Electricity and Natural Gas Law no. 123/2012 so as to allow producers to conclude “bilateral contracts outside the centralized market, at negotiated prices”, for electricity from new energy production capacities, put into operation after 1 June 2020.
The National Energy Regulatory Authority – ANRE is called to issue the necessary regulations for the implementation of the provisions provided by this emergency ordinance within 30 days from the date of entry into force of the GEO.
“We stimulate investments in electricity generation, by amending Law 123/2012. [] New producers, operating after 1 July 2020, will be able to conclude energy sales contracts in advance, those Power Purchase Agreements – PPAs, so necessary to guarantee bank loans, in order to finance new investments, are allowed through the changes adopted by the Government “, said Virgil Popescu, Minister of Economy, Energy and Business Environment.
