FinMin Petrescu: Fuel excise tax to be enforced as of April 1

New Finance Minister Ioana Petrescu backs the introduction of the extra fuel tax of 7 eurocents per litre.

Petrescu told Antena 3 private news channel late on Monday that the effects of enforcement of the excise tax will not be as serious as estimated.

'Nobody likes to impose taxes, not even the finance minister, but this excise tax was necessary and calculated for this budget, for this year. I don't believe it will have an impact as significant as the press has claimed,' Petrescu said.

She assured that the new excise tax would be enforced as of April 1, 2014.
