Final electricity consumption up 0.3 pct in first seven months, households consumption 19.4 pct higher

During 1.I – 31.VII.2019, primary energy resources increased by 2.9%, while those of electricity decreased by 3.0% as compared to the same period of previous year.
The final electricity consumption in the first seven months of the current year was 32.556 billion kWh, 0.3 pct higher from the same period of 2018, given that public lighting registered an increase of 12.5 pct, and household consumption rose by 19.4 pct, shows data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Wednesday.
The primary energy resources increased by 2.9 pct in the mentioned period, and those of electricity decreased by 3 pct compared to the same period of 2018.
The main primary energy resources from January 1 to July 31, 2019 totaled 20.317 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), up by 571,700 toe compared to January 1 - July 31, 2018.
Domestic production totaled 11.833 million toe, down by 262,800 toe compared to the same period of the previous year, and imports stood at 8.484 million toe.
During this period, electricity resources amounted to 38.251 billion kWh, down by 1.198 billion kWh compared to the same period of 2018.
Output from power plants was 13.494 billion kWh, down by 1.329 billion kWh (-9 pct). Hydropower production was 11.083 billion kWh, down by 824.7 million kWh (-6.9 pct), and energy from nuclear power plants was 6.361 billion kWh, down by 55.3 million kWh (0.9 pct).
Output from wind power plants, from January 1 to July 31, 2019 was 4.099 billion kWh, up 267.7 million kWh compared to the same period of the previous year, and the solar energy output in the reporting period was 1.082 billion kWh, up by 80.4 million kWh YoY.
Electricity exports stood at 2.374 billion kWh, down by 1.109 billion kWh. The own technological consumption in the networks and stations was 3.321 billion kWh, by 174.2 million kWh lower from the year-ago period.
