Energy Ministry gives greenlight to project allowing gas export to Bulgaria and R. Moldova
The Energy Ministry issued on Thursday the construction permit for the consolidation of the transmission system between Onesti (Bacau county) and Isaccea (Tulcea county) and for the inversion of the gas flow on Isaccea - Negru Voda pipeline, a project that will allow the gas export from Romania to Bulgaria, according to a release of the ministry.
"The project which we have just authorised will allow Romania to feed Bulgaria with natural gas from our own production and also allow Transgaz to takeover gas from the continental shelf of the Black Sea. The benefits of the project will be felt including in terms of gas supply of different areas of the country, especially in winter time when, because of the low temperatures, the consumption increases a lot," Energy Minister Anton Anton stated, as quoted in the release.
The overall value of the works is approximately 17 million lei.
Moreover, besides the export to Bulgaria, this project will also allow the transmission of some volumes of gas to the Republic of Moldova, according to a document posted on the Transgaz website, the operator of the national transmission system.
"Through the implementation of the Project, Bulgaria's supply can be ensured from the National Transmission System on the SNT-Onesti - Sendreni - Isaccea-Tranzit 1- Negru Voda corridor. Moreover, if gas is taken from the continental shelf of the Black Sea in the Tranzit 1 pipeline, Bulgaria's supply can be simultaneously ensured, the supply of deficit areas of SNT, as well as the transmission of a gas quantity to Podisor-Mosu or the export of a natural gas quantity to the Republic of Moldova," the Transgaz representatives mention in the document presenting the project, dated December 2017.
The works are to be carried out between 2018-2019. This year phase I should be competed and the project should be operational, and the second part of the works are to be competed in 2019.
