Energy consumption, down 3pct in Jan.-April 2017
Final energy consumption in Romania stood at 18.567 kWh in the first four months of 2017, down 3 percent from the same period of 2016, according to data published on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Household consumption dropped in the same period by 0.2 percent, and street lighting reduced by 6.9 percent. The technological consumption in grids and stations stood at 2.468 billion kWh, increasing by 115 billion kWh.
Energy exports totalled 2.814 billion kWh, up by 236.5 million kWh.
Between 1 January and 30 April 2017, the primary energy resources increased by 2 percent and the ones of electricity dropped by 1 percent compared with the same period of 2016.
The main primary energy resources totalled 11.136 million tep in the said period, up by 223,100 tep as against the same period of 2016.
Domestic production stood at 7.115 million tep, down 21,500 tep, whe compared with the same interval of 2016, while imports were worth 4.021 million tep.
In this period, electricity resources were 23.85 billion kWh, declining by 229.9 million kWh from the same period of 2016.
The production of the wind mills parked at 10.151 billion kWh, higher by 1.603 billion kWh (+18.8 percent) as against the same period of 2016.
The output of thermal power plants amounted to 10.151 billion kWh, up by 1.603 billion kWh (+ 18.8 percent) compared to the first four months of 2016. Hydroelectric power production stood at 5.136 billion kWh, down by 1.759 billion kWh (-25.5 percent), and the production of nuclear power plants was 4.019 billion kWh, down by 28.1 million kWh (-0, 7 percent).
In the first four months of 2017, the production of wind power plants was 2.989 billion kWh, increasing by 457.9 million kWh compared to the same period of the last year, and the solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations stood at 531.2 million kWh, rising by 4.5 million KWh compared to the corresponding period of 2016.
