Enel Distributie Banat changes name to E-Distributie Banat, Enel Distributie Dobrogea becomes E-Distribu?ie Dobrogea

According to the press release sent to ACTMedia, all Enel distribution companies in Romania have adopted the E-Distributie designation, after Enel Distributie Banat and Enel Distributie Dobrogea changed their names to E-Distributie Banat and E-Distributie Dobrogea, respectively. E-Distributie Muntenia was the first of the Enel distribution operators in Romania to adopt its new name, recently.

The name changes of the distribution operators are in line with EU and national regulations which require integrated energy companies to ensure the legal, functional and accounting separation of the distribution operations from the supply and production activities, including the name and visual identities, in order to prevent confusion on the consumers’ side and therefore to stimulate market competition.

Both E-Distributie Dobrogea and Banat are among the top performing distribution operators in Romania in terms of quality of service, as the System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) was better than the national average in each of the past four years.

According to the data of the National Regulatory Authority for Energy (ANRE), in 2015, the System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) for E-Distributie Dobrogea was 234 minutes (the second best in Romania after E-Distributie Muntenia), while E-Distributie Banat recorded an index of 247 minutes. The national average was 308 minutes in 2015.

Both companies have conducted significant investment projects in the past few years such as:

- a broad modernisation of the medium voltage network in the Danube Delta biosphere, including a new 20 kV line, overhead and underground, of a total length of approx. 9.2 km

- upgrades in Constanta County to enhance the safety of electricity supply for key strategic consumers: the Mihail Kogalniceanu airport, military units, headquarters of the Romanian Air Traffic Service Administration and water pumps belonging to RAJA

- an upgrade of the Mircea Voda primary station (high/medium voltage) in Calarasi County, an investment of about 8 million lei

- modernisation of the Neptun primary station (high/medium voltage) - total investment of over 12 million lei

- the upgrade of the high/medium voltage Marmura substation, located in Tulcea, following an investment project worth 11.4 million lei

-  modernisation of Balta Sarata (high/medium voltage) primary station in Caransebes, estimated at 2.65 million lei

  • an upgrade of the (high/medium voltage) Câlnic in Resita, in a 5.2 million lei investment project
