End use of electricity in Romania's economy declined 1.9 percent in 2014
The end use of electricity in Romania's economy declined 1.9 percent in 2014, to 49.246 billion KWh, while the household consumption decreased by 0.6 percent, provisional data released on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) revealed.
The same source shows primary energy resources advancing 2.4 percent and the electricity resources up 7.8 percent last year.
The main resources of primary energy amounted 32.173 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), up 744,000 toe year-on-year.
Domestic production was 21.922 million toe, up 0.7 percent from 2013, while imports totalled 10.251 million toe, up 6.1 percent.
Romania's 2014 electricity resources were 63.985 billion KWh, up 4.627 billion KWh (7.8 percent); the increase was mainly owed to higher production - plus 4.377 billion KWh or 7.4 percent.
Production in thermal power plants decreased by 4.42 billion kWh or 1.6 percent, to 26.592 billion KWh, while hydro power plants produced 18.997 billion KWh, or 3.853 billion KWh (25.4 percent) more than in 2013, and nuclear power plants yielded 11.675 billion KWh (57.2 million KWh or 0.5 percent more).
Wind turbines produced 4.723 billion KWh in 2014, up 34.4 million KWh. Photovoltaic stations added 874.9 million KWh, reaching 1.295 billion KWh.
Electricity exports went up 5.724 billion KWh to 8.189 billion KWh.
Internal technological consumption in grids and plants was 6.549 billion KWh, down 138.4 million KWh (2.1 percent).
INS has collected these data from 150 producers of primary and transformed energy. The maximum allowed error was +/- 3 percent.
