Ecosun Expert opens 2.5-MV solar farm at Harman, Brasov County
Ecosun Expert has opened its first photovoltaic power station in Romania, a 2.5-MW solar farm, at Podu Olt, Harman commune, Brasov County. The farm covers 5.7 hectares and uses 9,792 highly efficient sun panels made by French Voltec Solar. The annual output of the photovoltaic power station, estimated at 3.3 GWh, would suffice to provide electricity to 3,000 households at Podu Olt and Harman.
The company reports that in order to include 1 MW capacity in a solar project, an investment of 1-2 million euros is required, depending on various factors, including whether or not the land is included, project reliability, the origins of the sun panels and their guarantee.
The investment was carried out by Ecosun Expert Brasov, partially owned by Ecosun Expert Romania and some private investors. The photovoltaic power station was developed jointly with the Electrica Transilvania Sud company.
A second farm is underway, with a similar technical and financial configuration.
'Renewable energy projects are conducted all over the world in order to reduce oil dependence and keep pollution under control. Romania is following this world trend and the modular photovoltaic system has the advantage of producing as close to the consumption areas as possible, and once the investment is carried through production costs are maintained for the next 25-30 years, which cannot be guaranteed in the case of fossil fuels,' says the company's associate manager Frederic Rohmer in a press release.
The France-based Ecosun Expert company is generating power at five photovoltaic power stations of a total capacity of 10 MW. The company has sold to various customers 65 photovoltaic systems of large size, all operational right now.
