E-Distributie Dobrogea invests 12 million lei for the modernization of the Abator primary station in the city of Constanta

E-Distributie Dobrogea has begun an investment project worth approx. 12 million lei (approx. 2.6 million euros) in order to modernize the primary station (high/medium voltage) Abator in the city of Constanta, a press release sent to ACTmedia informs.

The primary station 110/20/10 kV Abator was put in function in 1963 and provides electricity, via the medium and low voltage grids, to over 25.000 household and business customers in the southern part of the city of Constanta.

The modernisation works started in the third quarter of 2017 and will replace equipment for all voltage levels including the power transformer 20/10kV. New primary equipment will be installed, as well as modern equipment for command, protection, automation and internal services. Also, the project will include the replacement of all secondary circuits and protection cables, and also of the connection to the ground installations, and the protection equipment against atmospheric discharges. The Abator station is integrated in the unified E-Distribu?ie system by new, state of the art equipment, which has modern technical agreements and is certified for work safety and security.

The project is part of an investment program carried out by Enel companies in Romania, aimed at securing improved service for the final consumers, assuring remote control and improving the quality and security of the network while also complying with Enel’s environmental standards.

The upgrade of the Abator primary station will lead to increased reliability of service, enhanced security of supply for the consumers, as well as more comfortable electricity supply. The project will be completed in July next year.

As a result of grid modernisation, the three E-Distribu?ie companies in Muntenia, Banat and Dobrogea are the top performing electricity distribution operators in Romania in terms of quality of service in the past years. According to National Regulatory Authority for Energy (ANRE) data, in 2016, the System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) for E-Distributie Muntenia was 172 minutes, the best in the country, while the national average was 290 minutes. E-Distributie Dobrogea and E-Distributie Banat also improved their performance and remained at the top of the best-performing operators in Romania, with SAIDI times of 217 minutes and 245 minutes, respectively.
