Bogdan Aurescu emphasizes importance of Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline project to be implemented, without delay
Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) State Secretary Bogdan Aurescu and Turkmenistan's first Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hadjiev held consultations on Thursday July 19, the Romanian official emphasizing in the context the importance of the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline project to be achieved, without delay, MAE informs.
State Secretary Bogdan Aurescu and Turkmenistan's first Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hadjiev reviewed the agenda of the future political contacts and the visits agenda, the economic cooperation, particularly in the energy field as well as in education and culture.
Thus, it was first of all discussed the requirement the Action Plan to secure the enactment of the terms of the Presidential Common Statement signed in Ashgabat, on July 22, 2009, a document that marked an upper stage of the Romanian Turkmen Partnership and relations.
Bogdan Aurescu also stressed that the Action Plan 'has to become the engine of a future ambitious roadmap securing the development of the ties between our countries in a consistent Partnership, at large, based on the platform of a consolidated partnership in energy.'
In his turn Vepa Hadjiev pointed out that for his country Romania is a valuable partner, the gate toward Europe.
Likewise, Aurescu expressed his confidence regarding the substantial role the energy projects of the enlarged Black Sea area, which are a priority to Romania, namely the Nabucco Pipeline and the AGRI Inter-connector will play, in the achievement of the Southern Corridor.
In the context, the Romanian dignitary also emphasized the importance of the enactment of the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline project, without delay.
The parties agreed to cooperate on the accomplishment of the Caspian Sea - Black Sea Corridor for commodities transportation, and discussed the opportunity of a bilateral working group to be set up in transport. In the same context, the Romanian official stressed the relevance of the cooperation between Constanta Port and Turkmenbashi port.
State Secretary Bogdan Aurescu evoked the importance of Turkmenistan's active involvement in the accomplishment of the initiatives of the EU Strategy for Central Asia, which the EU recently reviewed in June, and he reiterated Romania's full support in the respect.
At the same time, it was also underscored the excellent Romanian-Turkmen cooperation in the international bodies, like UNO and OSCE. The two officials also agreed to organize a new round of consultations in Ashgabat, in autumn this year.
