ANRE's Havrilet: Electricity bill for households to drop 3.5pct starting January 1, 2016
Household consumers will pay starting January 1, 2016 by 3.5 percent less for electricity, president of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) Niculae Havrilet told a meeting with the press on Wednesday. The decision was made in the regulatory committee, which took place on Wednesday.
"We have decided on a 3.5 percent reduction starting January 1 for the final invoice. The distribution rates went down 12 percent on average, however the share of green certificates went up from 35 lei to 43 lei," Havrilet showed.
The share of green certificates in the household consumers' bill went up after several large industrial electricity consumers were exempted from the payment of part of the green certificates.
"If the certificate quota hadn't gone up, the final bill would have dropped by 5.5 percent," Havrilet added.
In early December, the Economy Ministry released the list of the 37 companies exempted from the payment of green certificates, which include: Alro Slatina, Arcelor Mittal Galati, Lafarge, Carpat Cement, Saint-Gobain, Azomures.
On Tuesday, Marius Vladu, head of ANRE's Department for Communication, Cooperation and Parliament Liaison, said that the distribution rates for electricity will drop 12 percent on average starting January 1, 2016, which will translate into a 4-5 percent reduction in the final bill.
