Wizz Air introduces four new routes from the Romanian Capital

Wizz Air has allotted the tenth aircraft to Bucharest while celebrating 11 years since the inauguration of the airbase in Bucharest. The low cost airline also announced four new routes launched this year, with flights from Bucharest to Athens, Gothenburg, Nice and Kutaisi (Georgia)

Market leader in Romania and the entire Eastern Central Europe on the low cost segment, Wizz Air has assigned the cutting edge 230-seater Airbus A321 aircraft to operate on the latest routes from Bucharest to Athens, Gothenburg, Nice and Kutaisi, but there will also be more flights to eight most-sought destinations: Barcelona, Bari, Billund, Eindhoven, Geneva, London Lutton, Paris Beauvais and Tel Aviv.

Overall, Wizz programme will have 24 additional weekly flights departing from Bucharest. Out in 100 new flights operated this year in Europe, 20 are from Romania.

The flight to Athens, Greece has been operating on a daily basis since March 25 this year, with prices starting from EUR 29.99/person.

The flight to Nice, France has just started to operate since June 26, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, with prices starting from EUR 14.99.

The flight to Gothenburg is also a new comer, operating from Bucharest  since June 27, every Wednesday and Sunday, with prices starting from EUR 9.99, while the flight to Kutaisi, Georgia will operate as of tomorrow, July 3, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, with prices starting from EUR 14.99. The prices are for one way including all taxes and non-optional charges.

There will be more flights to popular destination from Bucharest, as well. Wizz Air has increased the weekly flights from Bucharest to Barcelona from seven flights  to ten, from Bucharest to Tel Aviv from six to nine, to London-Lutton from 19 to 20, to Bari from five to seven, to Paris –Beauvais from three to five, to Eindhoven from two to four flights, to Geneva there will be three flights instead of two and to Billund there will be also three weekly flights instead of two.

According to the latest statistics released at the press conference in Bucharest, more than 1.6 million passengers have traveled on board of Wizz planes from Bucharest in the first six months of 2018, which means a ten per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

This year, Wizz Air is providing more than 4.2 million seats for sale, to 47 destinations in 20 countries, with prices starting from RON 39.

The total investment of Wizz Air in Bucharest mounts to USD 1.1 billion, with the airbase having a staff of 400 aviation experts and facilitating over 2,300 jobs annual in the affiliated industries in the region. Wizz Air count 1,000 employees in Romania as a whole.

More than 19 million passengers have flown by Wizz Air  from Bucharest since 2007.

Wizz Air is operating with a young fleet from Romania, consisting of 25 planes, including five new ultra-efficient Airbus A321.
