Trade: GfK: Romanian market of household appliances grew to 1.9 billion euros in first 9 months of 2017
Sales of household appliances in Romania grew by 12.7% in 2017 compared to the same period of 2016m to 1.887 billion euros, according to GfK Temax market study issued on last Thursday, which shows that the telecommunication sector and that of small appliances recorded the highest increases.
Household appliances of long use include vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, washing machines, TV sets, computers, laptops, mobile phones, tablets, printers and photo cameras.
According to the study, the telecommunications market reached 747 million euros in the first nine months, on the rise by 24.9% compared to the same period of 2016, in the context in which smart phone sales with screens larger than 5 inches recorded the highest increases in the third quarter.
In case of small household appliances the market went up by 18.7% in the first 9 months of 2017, to 144 million euros, according to GfK data.
Another important increase was in the photo department. The market grew by 12.9%, to 18 million euros in the first 9 months of 2017.
The electronic appliance market grew by 9.7% in the first 9 months, against the same period of 2016, to 286 million euros. In quarter 3, the market value of photo cameras recorded the highest increase rate in the sector.
The large household appliance market had a 5% advance to 403 million euros.
The IT market recorded a 0.6% drop in the first 9 months, to 269 million euros. In quarter 3, the highest growth was in the web and surveillance camera field.
The printing device market dropped by 17%, to 21 million euros in the first 9 months.
