Trade: Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria call for restrictions on chain businesses
The Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, and Slovakia have signed a joint statement, in which they call on the European Commission (EC) to prepare measures for restrictions on chain businesses in their relations with suppliers, Ceskenoviny reported.
The agriculture ministers of the countries and their representatives coordinated the statement at a meeting in Bratislava.
“We call on the European Commission (EC) to prepare a package of measures for restricting the dominant economic strength of chain businesses. We want the EC to express its position by the end of 2015. We believe only the common legislative frame, approved by the entire EU, can solve the problem,“ Slovakian agriculture minister Lubomir Jahnatek said.
According to him, profits of chain businesses are too high.
He asked for fair conditions in trade, which are to guarantee chain businesses do not force small and medium food producers to sell their products losing money.(Source: focus-fen.net)
