Tourism: “Transylvania Gates”cultural – tourist route officially acknowledged by Economy Ministry
“Transylvania Gates”cultural – tourist route is the latest tourist product developed at national level, acknowledged by the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Business. The route promotes three destinations and their surroundings: Brasov, Sibiu and Bistrita.
The three cities, dating since the Middle Ages, enjoyed social-economic advantages offered by their location in the vicinity of passages to the Romanian Principalities and the Ottoman Empire.
“Moreover, at first glance we can see that cultural patrimonies of the three areas present many similarities: Szeklar Medieval strongholds and fortified churches, Romanian villages with important pastoral tradition, first rank Orthodox churches, spectacular mountain and rural landscapes, ski resorts and a great diversity of folk costumes, generated by the multicultural character of these areas,” the Economy Ministry points out.
