Tourism: The top of the mountain resorts in Romania: Poiana Brasov, Sinaia and Predeal

Poiana Brasov, Sinaia and Predeal occupy the first three places in a top of the mountain resorts as over 62% of the Romanians spend their winter holidays in Romania, according to a study made by OLX Cazare si Turism. ‘In the general ranking, which includes all criteria analysed in the study, the first is Poiana Brasov (25%) followed by Sinaia (11%) Predeal (9%), Busteni (6%) and Vatra Dornei (6%). The Romanians manifested a preference for Poiana Brasov, as it is the resort which is first in all criteria analysed.

Similarly, the resort was the first option both for families and couples, as well for young people’ the press release says. When it comes to the report quality/price, the Romanians who took part in the study positioned Poiana Brasov first (14%), second Sinaia (9%), followed by Predeal and Busteni (8% each)then Vatra Dornei (7%) and Ranca (6%).

When it comes to access to slopes and the quality of the slope, the Romanians manifested their preference for Poiana Brasov (29%), followed by Predeal (14%), Sinaia (9%) and Busteni (6%).

The resort with the most appreciated mountain views is Poiana Brasov (20%), followed by Sinaia and Busteni (9% each) and third is Balea Lac (8%). ‘Poiana Brasov (22%) is at the top of the resorts with the best food, followed by Sinaia (10%) and then, equally, third Predeal and Vatra Dornei (8% each). The Romanians who choose to go by car noted the following resorts as being the most accessible: Poiana Brasov (22%), Sinaia (13%) and Predeal (9%). Similarly, the interviewees considered Poiana Brasov as the most luxurious mountain resort in the country (41%)’ the press release says.

Over 62% of the interviewees expressed their wish to spend their winter holiday in Romania, while 11% will not  go anywhere. The Romanians who chose Romania as a destination will go to Poiana Brasov (28%), Predeal and Sinaia (10% each) and Vatra Dornei (7%). Among the other destinations were Austria and Switzerland (4% each).

The study was made in November 2019 in an online questionnaire given to the visitors of OLX.ro. The sample covers 2,835 interviewees from the regions of the country
