Tourism: The capacity of touristic accommodation was 5.9% lower in Q1 than the same period of 2019
The touristic accommodation capacity was in Q1 2020 by 54.9% lower than in the similar period of last year, according to the centralised data of INS.
In the first six months of 2020, hotels had the highest share of 60.2% as a total of touristic accommodation functioning, being followed by agro-touristic pensions (13.1%), touristic pensions (12%), touristic villas (4%),hotels (3.8%),motels (3.2%) and the rest of structures with touristic accommodation features.
The number of nights for the Romanian tourists received in touristic structures represented 84.9% of the total of nights. As compared to Q1 2019, the total number of nights dropped by 62.5%, the total number of nights for the Romanian tourists dropping by 59.8% and that of foreign tourists by 72.9%.
Incoming foreign tourists to Romania in the first six months of 2020 was almost 2.725 million, dropping by 50.8% against Q1 2019
Road transport means were mostly used by foreign visitors for travel to Romania (79.7% of the total number of incoming) the rest of travel was made by air (17.6%), naval (1.7%) and railroad (1.0%).
Outgoing Romanian visitors abroad for Q1 2020 was 5.121 million, dropping by 49.6% against Q1 2019. The largest part of the travels of Romanian visitors abroad was made with road means of transport (68.8%); the rest was made by air (30.5%), railroad (0.5%) and naval (0.2%).
