Tourism: Thai hotel owners request direct charter flights between Romania and Thailand
Thai hotel owners say tour operators in Romania are carrying out talks about the introduction of direct charters between Romania and Thailand. The number of Romanian tourists who arrive in Phuket for holidays has grown several times of late and the introduction of direct charter flights between Romania and Phuket would make tourist packages cheaper and would shorten the flight by a few hours, Angelica Aliberti, the sales manager of Hyatt Regency resort in Phuket told News.ro.
She showed that for Romanian tourists, direct charters would bring two big advantages: the tourist package would be cheaper and the flight shorter, 11-12 hours instead of 15-16 hours at present.
“Until last year we received about 250 Romanian tourists. In October, we started a direct collaboration with Eturia, one of the largest tour operators in Romania, and there was a visible increase, so that about 850 Romanian tourists have visited us until now,’she mentioned.
The most crowded months are December, January and February, the top season.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand estimated recently that the country would be visited this year by 37-38 million tourists, on the rise compared to 2017, when there were 35 million visitors.
