Tourism: Ski infrastructure in Romania: only one ski run longer than 4 km
The ski domain in Romania is made of 189 homologated ski runs with a total length of 164 km, two of which authorised this year but not homologated yet, according to data sent by Ministry of Tourism officials to ZF.
Only 55 ski slopes are over 1 km long, two are over 3 km long and only one is more than 4 km long. Most runs are very short and expect snow as they do not have snow guns.
One of the two new ski slopes authorised by the ministry is on Cocosului Hill in Bistrita, has 1.2 km and is an investment of 5 million euros made by local authorities. The run has not been authorised yet and cannot be used. Another slope authorised by the ministry is in Bihor county, according to ministry officials. The ministry budget allocated this year for the ski domain was about 17 million lei, and was allocated for the modernization of the ski domain in Voineasa (Transalpina), Campulung Moldovenesc and Borsec resort.
