Tourism: Most Romanians intend to travel this year; a third prefer going by plane
Eight out of ten Romanians intend to travel in 2023, but 86% of themsay they made no bookings, according to a specialized study released on Friday.
According to a Teads survey, 62% of respondents declared they would make necessary arrangements in the first part of the year, but a third (34%) said they would choose air transport for going abroad. In case of domestic destinations, cars are first choice (33%).
More than half (54%) of people interviewed get informed about their vacations online, while 44% will travel for recreation, the most important criteria influencing their decisions being price and destination.
In general, eight out of ten Romanians have travel plans in 2023, a high interest being manifested by the Boomers generation (90%). At the same time, the lowest interest for traveling was shown by the Millenials (68%).
About half of people who intend to travel (48%) will have one or two holidays this year, while 52% expect at least three journeys this year.
Travels for tourist purposes rank first among Romanians, most of them (44%) preferring relaxation, while 19% travel to visit family and friends. The main criteria influencing the purchase decision are price and destination (for 7 out of 10 Romanians) while 17% are attracted by flexible booking.
At the same time, half of Romanian tourists would adopt measures for a more ecological holiday, 21% would choose sustainable destinations, while 18% would rather choose environment friendly accommodations.
Teads survey was made in 26 markets and anlyzed travel intentions and interests. In Romania,the study was made between Decelber 13, 2022 and January 12, 2023, on a sample of 498 users.
