Tourism: 38% more tourists went on cruises in 2018
Croaziere.net travel agency announced that last year they recorded an increase by 37.5% of the number of tourists who went on cruises, to 11,000, while prices dropped in the last years. The agency recorded 8,000 passengers in 2017, by direct and indirect sales, while in 2008 they had 11,000 Romanian passengers (37.5% increase).
The price of a cruise can start from 300 euro per person, a package including all meals, cabin accommodation, parties and entertainment on board. Transport to the boarding port and port taxes are not included.
As for options, most Romanian tourists choose Mediterranean cruises, especially in the western area, as the distance between the boarding port and the starting point in Romania is relatively small and can be reached by using a low cost flight, the company says.
The most popular European boarding ports are Barcelona, Civitavecchia (Rome), Genoa, Savona and Naples. Cruises in the North European area are also in demand, in the Baltic states of Norwegian fiords.
