The tourists’ overnight stays in the establishments of tourists’ reception in April 2018
• Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, both the arrivals and the overnight stays in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation increased by 4.4 %, respectively by 1.1% in April 2018.
• Compared to April 2017, in April 2018 customs registered a decrease in the arrivals of foreign visitors of 7.9 % and an increase of 0.1% in the departures abroad of the Romanian visitors.
In April 2018, the arrivals in the establishments of tourists’ reception amounted to 844.2 thousands, 4.4% more compared to April 2017. In April 2018, the arrivals of the Romanian tourists in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation were 74.8% of the total arrivals, while the foreign tourists were 25.2%, weights similar to those of April 2017.
As to the arrivals of the foreign tourists in the establishments of tourists’ reception, the highest weight had those coming from Europe (73.6% of the total of foreign tourists) and 85.2% of them came from European Union Member States. In April 2018, the overnight stays in the establishments of tourists’ reception amounted to 1605.7 thousands, 1.1% more compared to April 2017.
In April 2018, the Romanian tourists’ overnight stays in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation were 75.4% of the total overnight stays, while the foreign tourists’ overnight stays were 24.6%.
As to the overnight stays of foreign citizens in the establishments of tourists’ reception, the highest weight had those coming from Europe (72.9% of the total of foreign tourists) and 85.4% of them came from European Union Member States.
In April 2018, the average duration of stay was 1.9 days for both Romanian and foreign tourists. In April 2018, the net use index of accommodation places was 24.8% on total tourists’ accommodation structures, decreasing by 0.3 percentage points compared to April 2017.
In April 2018, hotels (31.7%), hostels (19.7%), ship accommodation places (18.3%), tourist villas (17.8%) and tourist boarding houses (17.2%) registered higher use indices of accommodation places.
In April 2018, the arrivals of foreign visitors in Romania, according to customs, amounted to 948.1 thousands, 7.9% less compared to April 2017. Most of the foreign visitors came from European countries (90.5%). 53.7% of the total arrivals of the foreign visitors to Romania were from European Union Member States, out of which the most arrivals were from Bulgaria (25.3%), Hungary (23.8%), Italy (9.8%), Germany (8.0%), France (5.4%), Poland (4.9%) and the United Kingdom (4.5%).
In April 2018, the departures of Romanian visitors abroad, according to customs, amounted 1713.8 thousands, by 0.1% more compared to April 2017. The Romanian visitors abroad mostly used the means of road transport, 67.6% of the total departures.
In the period 1.01-30.04.2018, the arrivals in the establishments of tourists’ reception amounted 3033.8 thousands, 5.7% more compared to the period 1.01-30.04.2017.
In the period 1.01-30.04.2018, the arrivals of the Romanian tourists in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation were 77.1% of the total arrivals, while the foreign tourists were 22.9%, weights similar to those of the period 1.01-30.04.2017.
As to the arrivals of the foreign tourists in the establishments of tourists’ reception, the highest weight had those coming from Europe (74.1% of the total of foreign tourists) and 83.6% of them came from European Union Member States.
In the period 1.01-30.04.2018, the overnight stays in the establishments of tourists’ reception amounted to 5734.2 thousands, 4.8% more compared to the period 1.01-30.04.2017. In the period 1.01-30.04.2018, the Romanian tourists’ overnight stays in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation were 76.9% of the total overnight stays, while the foreign tourists’ overnight stays were 23.1%.
As to the overnight stays of foreign visitors in the establishments of tourists’ reception, the highest weight had those coming from Europe (73.6% of the total of foreign tourists) and 82.2% of them came from European Union Member States. In the period 1.01-30.04.2018, the average duration of stay was 1.9 for both Romanian and foreign tourists.
In the period 1.01-30.04.2018, the net use index of accommodation places was 23.2% on total tourists’ accommodation structures, 0.8 percentage points more compared to the period 1.01-30.04.2017.
In the period 1.01-30.04.2018, hotels (29.5%), hostels (17.8%), tourist villas (17.2%), tourist boarding houses (17.0%) and ship accommodation places (16.4%) registered higher use indices of accommodation places.
By county, the number of tourists’ arrivals in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation recorded in the period 1.01 – 30.04.2018 higher values in Bucharest Municipality (597.9 thousands), Bra?ov (380.7 thousands), Cluj (168.1 thousands) and Prahova (163.1 thousands), while the number of tourists’ overnight stays recorded higher values in Bucharest Municipality (976.1 thousands), Bra?ov (767.0 thousands), Prahova (337.0 thousands) and Cluj (307.0 thousands).
Most of the foreign visitors accommodated in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation came from Israel (73.2 thousands), Germany (72.5 thousands), Italy (69.1 thousands), France (42.8 thousands) and the United Kingdom (39.7 thousands).
In the period 1.01-30.04.2018, the arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, according to customs, amounted to 3429.1 thousands, 6.5% more compared to the period 1.01-30.04.2017.
Most of the foreign visitors came from European countries (90.6%). 53.7% of the total arrivals of the foreign visitors to Romania were from European Union Member States, out of which the most arrivals were from Bulgaria (26.3%), Hungary (23.4%), Italy (10.4%), Germany (7.7%), France (5.0%) and Poland (4.7%). In the period 1.01-30.04.2018, the departures of Romanian visitors abroad, according to customs, amounted 6019.6 thousands, by 3.6% more compared to the period 1.01-30.04.2017. The Romanian visitors abroad mostly used the means of road transport, 67.5% of the total departures.
