Telecom.IT: Number of active users of mobile telephony in Romania amounts to 22.6 million
The number of active users of mobile telephony in Romania amounted, in the first six months of 2013, to 22.6 million people, a number that includes people who use both subscriptions and prepaid cards, according to the data presented by Catalin Marinescu, president of the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), at a specialist conference on Tuesday.
The ANCOM report shows that of the 22.6 million users of the mobile telephony services, 6.3 million are subscriptions for individuals, down by 1.3 percent from the previous six months, whereas the subscriptions for companies amounted to 3 million (up by 0.7 percent every six months).
At present, on the relevant market in Romania, in mid 2013, there were five providers of mobile telephony services: Cosmote, Orange, RCS&RDS, Romtelecom and Vodafone.
Representatives of the Romanian IT&C, together with decision makers of the authorities in the field, on Tuesday attend the 10th Mobile Communications Gala, where they will present the evolution of the main indicators of the market for mobile telephony and mobile Internet.
