Survey: Three out of five Romanians have sought in 2016 private medical services
Three out of five Romanians (61 percent) have sought in the past year private medical services for lab medical analyzes, while public services were mainly used for hospitalizations (39 percent) and surgical interventions (25 percent), shows a specialist survey released on Monday.
According to the cited source, seven out of ten Romanians from the urban area use online technology for health-related activities, with most of them (58 percent) claiming that thus they have better control over their health status; other benefits mentioned by the surveyed were lower stress over their own or the family's health conditions (44 percent) and easier communication with doctors (42 percent).
Regarding the Romanians' current state of health, 35 percent of urban residents reported that they suffer from chronic diseases (50 percent of the persons aged over 45 and 24 percent of the respondents aged under 45). Most of them are particularly interested in prevention (58 percent), but also in updated information on health subjects (34 percent). In the past year the Romanians have preferred private health services over public ones for lab medical analyzes (61 percent vs. 40 percent) and imaging tests (37 percent vs. 27 percent), while seeking public services mostly for hospitalization (39 percent vs. 9 percent) and surgical interventions (25 percent vs. 11 percent).
According to the survey conducted by Medic One in partnership with iSense Solutions under the Bold by Lowe Group platform, Romanians are open to virtual consultations, especially for asking the doctors additional questions / for more details (89 percent), but also for having the results of medical investigations interpreted (87 pct), monitoring the progress of an condition (74 pct), treatment prescription (72 pct) or diagnosis (44 pct).
The exclusive survey was conducted on a 1,360-strong sample of urban respondents aged over 18, who use the internet. The data was collected online through the ResearchRomania.ro Panel over April - May 2017, and are representative of the urban environment. The results of the study carry an error margin of +/- 2.66 pct, at a confidence level of 95 pct.
