Spain and Romania sign a Memorandum of cooperation in transport and transport infrastructure
The Spanish authorities undertook, together with those in Romania, the task to jointly explain to the European Commission that the situation in the field of EU funds absorption has changed, after the Romanian Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Ovidiu Silaghi, signed with his Spanish counterpart, Ana Pastor, a Protocol of bilateral assistance, with provisions that particularly refer to the EU funds absorption, given the experience of Spain in attracting them into infrastructure projects.
In declarations given to AGERPRES, at the end of the meeting in Madrid, the Romanian Minister of Transport explained that he presented to Ana Pastor the up-to-date situation of the infrastructure projects in Romania, the degree of absorption of EU funds and activities of Spanish companies that have invested in the country. 'We received support /of the Spanish side - editor's note / to track the degree of absorption of EU funds and to explain in front of the Commission that the situation is different', said Silaghi. He also said that, Wednesday, October 31, a first bilateral meeting is scheduled, under the provisions of the Protocol, between an official representative of CFR Infrastructure and the representative of Spanish railway company, Renfe.
On the other hand, in this context, Minister Silaghi said that, 'as you well know, we are in the period of pre-suspension /of the EU funds - editor's note /, to correct the period 2009-2011, and we have two months to take the measures needed to comply with required standards. And we will take those measures '.
Minister for Transport and Infrastructure of Romania Ovidiu Ioan Silaghi has paid an official visit to Spain, on Tuesday, having a meeting in Madrid with the Minister of Development of the Kingdom of Spain, Ana Maria Pastor Julian. The two ministers signed a Protocol of cooperation between the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of the Kingdom of Spain in the field of transport and transport infrastructure, which is aimed at stimulating the development and implementation of projects and / or joint programs in the field of transport and transport infrastructure, as well as in promoting links, experience exchange and best practices as for technical and scientific issues arising from research activity in the field of transport.
According to the information provided by the Spanish Ministry of Development, the goal of this cooperation between the two countries is focused on sharing experiences, best practices, research findings, as well as joint development of programs in all areas related to transport and transport infrastructure. The collaboration between the two sides can cover any topic related to planning, construction, conservation and operation of all public transport means.
