Romania loses a million hectares of arable land to buildings

Over the last years, Romania has lost around 10 percent of its arable land, which means the country's arable land has diminished by a million hectares, Agriculture Minister Valeriu Tabara has recently said.Based on the figures offered by the General Agricultural Census, Tabara stressed that 'since 2002 till 2008, more than 1,000 hectares of arable land disappeared from each county.
