Romania keeps its status of wine-consuming and bottled wine-producing country
Romania is keeping its status of wine-consuming and bottled wine-producing country, standing somewhere at no. 10 in the world's relevant rankings, Catalin Paduraru, Wine Ambassador ADAR (Association of Authorized Tasters in Romania), at Friday's opening of the wine trade fair Goodwine.
Over 70 Romanian and foreign wine producers and importers are showcasing their products, November 20 to 22, at the Goodwine trade fair in Bucharest.
"After news and sports, wine, together with gourmet products, ranks three, in online sales. Romanian producers promote themselves their products online, but there is no coherent, common promotion, at country level, under a common brand, which we would benefit greatly. We should take the example of countries which are already doing that, such as Chile, Argentina, the Republic of Moldova," said Catalin Paduraru.
Organized at the 14th edition of the Goodwine will be three master classes, one with wines from Bulgaria and two from the Republic of Moldova.
"Romania is a very important market for Moldovan producers, especially in the context of the embargo imposed by Russia. Our exports to Romania have increased by 170pct this year, up to five million liters. Romanians prefer Moldovan wines with a good value for money. There are already 22 Moldovan producers that sell on the Romanian market. Of course, we also export to America and Asia, and more recently to Nigeria," said Director of the Moldova's National Office of Vine and Wine Dumitru Munteanu.
More than 20 Moldovan wine producers are exhibiting their offer both in the joint stand of the Wine of Moldova Association, but also in separate stands.
