Real Estate: Romania Sotheby's International Realty Announces the Sale of the Romano Mansion, a Neo-Romanesque Gem

One of the most impressive mansions in the Oltenia region, known as the Romano Mansion, is listed for sale at €2,050,000. This historic property is an architectural gem in neo-Romanesque style.

The Romano Mansion was built between 1920 and 1925 according to the plans of the famous architect Grigore Cerchez. However, the history of the manor begins in the time of Tudor Vladimirescu with the Romanov brothers, from which it takes its name. They were recruited as mercenaries in Tudor's army, and later one of them founded a prosperous family in Plesoiu that contributed to the construction of this mansion.

After its nationalization in 1949, the mansion went through various transformations, serving as a camp for pioneers, IAS (State Agricultural Enterprise), a school for handicapped children and, during the communist period, as the home of Emil B?rbulescu, Nicolae Ceausescu's nephew and head of the Ministry of Interior structures for Olt County.

The property reverted to the Romano family heirs in 1998 and has since undergone extensive renovations and improvements. The mansion is characterized by its spectacular elements, typical of Grigore Cerchez's neo-Romanesque style, such as the high gazebo with massive decorations, the round turret framing the opposite corner, the decorations under the cornice, the monumental pillars at the main entrance and the tri-lobed arches on the main façade. The entrance gate to the property also gives the impression of entering an ancient fortress or cathedral with its two imposing towers.

The main building (The Manor House) has a footprint of 313 square meters and a total area of 429 square meters. The property includes two additional buildings: a secondary house dating from the time of the construction of the Manor House, with a total area of 128 square metres, and a more recent building with a total area of 339 square metres.

With 8.57 hectares of land, the property also includes other features of interest, such as a one-hectare pond, a generously sized swimming pool (over 400 square metres), a former icehouse, several outbuildings and a building with a footprint of over 300 square metres, which can be converted into useful space depending on the needs of the future owners.

With its rich history, breathtaking architectural beauty and vast estate offering numerous development possibilities, the Romano Mansion can become a tourist attraction, a prestigious hotel, an exclusive event centre, a clinic or a rehabilitation centre. It can also be restored and used again as a personal residence, retaining its exceptional historical and architectural character and value.
