Real Estate: Housing starts down to 15,329 units in three months
The number of housing put into use in Romania, in Q1 of this year, dropped by 578 units against the same period of 2022, down to 15,329 units, according to the National Institute for Statistics (INS).
By residence environment, during the period analysed, most dwellings were built in urban areas, with a share of 61.5%.
According to the official statistics, the breakdown of completed dwellings by financing fund reveals that in the first quarter of 2023, compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of dwellings completed with private funds decreased by 856 dwellings, but increased from public funds by 278 housing units.
The regional distribution shows a decrease in the number of completed dwellings in the following development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (-885 dwellings), North-West (-740), Centre (-262) and West (-69).
On the other hand, increases were recorded in the following development regions: North-East (+796 dwellings), South-East (+351), South-West Oltenia (+190) and South-Muntenia (+41).
