Real Estate: Apartments more expensive by 1.5% in Romanian cities last month

The price of apartments in Romanian cities grew by 1.5% in February compared to the previous month, while the average price increase was 6.4% last year, according to data published by imobiliare.ro site on Thursday. In February, apartment owners requested an average of 1,080 euros/square meter, on the rise by 6.4% compared to the same period of 2016 and by 1.5% against January.

In February 2017, the highest increases compared to the same period of 2016 were in Timisoara, where the price reached 1,039 euros/sq.m, 7.1% over the level of February 2016.

Constanta ranked second, with an advance of 6.6% in the last 12 months, to 991 euros/sq.m.

Bucharest ranks third with a price average of 1,159 euros/sq.m, 6.4% over February 2016.

The fourth annual increase was in Cluj Napoca - 6.2% compared to 2016, to 1,259 euros/sq.m. Compared to January, the price of old buildings appreciated with 0.5% in February, at 1,312 euros/sq.m, while new ones went up by 0.3% to 1,176 euros/sq.m.

Brasov ranked fifth, with an average apartment price of 918 euros/sq.m in February.

In Iasi the average apartment price dropped in February by 0.3% compared to the same period of 2016, to 885 euros.sq.m.
