New Ford B-MAX, manufactured in Craiova -bestselling European compact MPV
The new Ford B-MAX, manufactured in Craiova (246 km southwest of Bucharest) was the bestselling compact mono-volume on the European market, in the first half of 2013, at a market quota of 15.6 percent, in its segment, reads the Ford analysis conducted based on the car registrations data collected by Polk.
'European clients bought over 38,000 B-MAX compact mono-volumes during the first six months of 2013, and the rise in the sales ranked them the first in the category, on the German and the UK markets, in the Q2, informs Ford Romania in a release.
According to the above-mentioned source, over 80 percent of the sold B-MAX cars are SYNC Emergency Assistance equipped. 43 percent of them are available with the new 1.0 litre three-cylinder engine of the Ford EcoBoost family, and 22 percent are Active City Stop System equipped.
B-MAX production began at the Ford Factory in Craiova, in mid 2012, and it was launched on all the European markets in Nov, of the same year. Company officials say that B-Max tops sales of Citroen C3 Picasso, Fiat 500L, Honda Jazz and Opel Vauxhall Meriva, in H1 of this year.
The new B-MAX, last year, won the AUTOBEST 2013 International Award and the Autonis Prize for the most beautiful mini MPV of the year 2012, awarded by the readers of the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport.
