Infrastructure : Traian Basescu and Turkish counterpart talk in Chicago about regional approach on infrastructure projects
Romanian President Traian Basescu met on Monday, May 22, with President of the Republic of Turkey Abdullah Gul during the NATO summit meeting, and both Heads of State backed the possibility of a regional approach for infrastructure projects.
'The two Heads of State said that the ferry route between Constanta and Istanbul is working excellently and they backed the possibility of a regional approach for infrastructure projects. The officials shared the same position regarding the importance of the Nabucco project to provide the energy security for Europe and evaluated the stage of the Transcaspian pipeline project,' according to the Presidential Administration.
President Basescu and his Turkish counterpart exchanged opinions on several hot topics on the regional agenda, as the meeting helped towards the evaluation of the stage and potential of the bilateral cooperation in the field of security policy.
'On this occasion, the Romanian and Turkish presidents welcomed the excellent stage of the bilateral relations between their countries, on the economic level as well, and voiced their common interest for its consolidation by continuing the high-level political dialogue and by implementing the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the Republic of Turkey. In this respect, the plan of action of this partnership is quite close to conclusion,' the quoted source says.
