Infrastructure : The goods traffic in Romanian maritime harbours in 2018 worth over 61 million tones

The goods traffic recorded last year in the Romanian maritime harbours was over 61 millin tons, being the third biggest in the last 30 years. The most important groups of goods where increase of traffic was recorded are: cereals and raw oil.

According to the representatives of the National Company for the Administration of the Maritime Harbours (CN APMC) Constanta, the goods traffic of 2018 is the third highest over the last 30 years since 1988 being worth 62.3 million tons, and in 2008 worth 61.8 million tons. The goods traffic recorded last year was 61.3 million  tons.

Significant growth of traffic was recorded in the case of all groups of goods, less in the case of the fertilizers, the food produce and nutrients for animals, live animals and wood.

The most important groups of goods with increase of traffic are: cereals (17.96 million tons), raw oil (7.47 million tons)various articles (6.56 million tons) iron ore (4.52 million tons), ores and non-ferous waste (3.97 million tons), solid mineral fuel (3.77 million tons), oily seeds, oily fruit, fats (3.26 million tons), metallic products (2.28 million tons).

‘ From the total traffic recorded in 2018, the maritime traffic was 48.63 million tons, and the river one represented 12.66 million tons. For the maritime traffic, the increase during  the analysed period represents 6% and for the river one recorded a stagnation. The peak months, with traffic over 6 million tons, were August (6.48 million tons) and July (6.40 million tons) said the representatives of CN APMC.

Last year,  there reached in the Romanian maritime ports Constanta, Mangalia and Midia, 13.626 ships (13,380 ships in 2017) out of which 4,139 maritime ships and 9,487 ships.

Most ships which entered the Romanian maritime harbours were cargos (1,785) , tanks (670), portcontainers (524) and bulk carriers (628).
