Infrastructure: PorrConstruct will double Mogosoaia – Balotesti railway to Otopeni Airport

CFR SA national company  and Porr Construct SRL signed the contract for doubling the railway between Mogosoaia and Balotesti for Otopeni Airport, with a value of 50.5 million lei, to be carried out in 17 months, CFR announced.

According to the source, financing will come from funds of the state budget.

“The investment will last 17 months and includes two stages, the elaboration of the technical project and execution of railway infrastructure and superstructure on a distance of 8 km . The project represents the first work of doubling a railway from funds of the state budget in the last 30 years,”said the company in a press release.

The contract covers a complex range of railway infrastructure and superstructure works, through the consolidation and broadening of  the railway embankment, mounting superstructure for the double railway, repair and consolidation works for 4 small bridges, 3 bridges and a crossroad, building the new airport stopping point, setting up railway signaling and telecommunication installations for the whole distance and energy supply installations for Airport stopping point.

The stopping point will be a new construction (ground and upper floor) with two platforms, 150 m long and 3 m wide each, travelers' access being made by fix stairs and escalators, or by elevators for people with disabilities.
