Infrastructure : International Airport of Cluj-Napoca may record a 10 per cent increase in passenger traffic in 2015
Avram Iancu International Airport of Cluj-Napoca may record a 10 per cent increase in passenger traffic in 2015, David Ciceo, President of the Romanian Airports' Association and CEO of Cluj-Napoca International Airport said on Tuesday.
"For Cluj, we expect in 2015 a 10 per cent increase in passenger traffic. We also have an intermodal transport project for which we hope to get funding and to implement it. We have a very good catchment area.
Also, the new investments, the finalization of the new runway, have led to drawing new airlines. We have managed to have regular traffic with new countries, such as Sweden.
On December 21 we will start a regular flight to Malmo. The airport is very important in the economic development of Cluj County," David Ciceo told "Infrastructure Forum."
He said that in Cluj there are over 2,500 foreign students at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy alone, of whom 1,000 are French, but there are also German and Swedish students.
