Healthcare: Vlad Voiculescu: We have 88 villages without access to medical services

There are no medical services in 88 villages in Romania and there is huge difference between counties for the density of physicians, said health minister Vlad Voiculescu at the 6th Congress of the Health Solidarity Federation.

He pointed out that the number of physicians reported to that of Romania’s inhabitants is lower than the European one although Romanian universities report more graduates every year.

“We see that those graduates leave for France where they make up the second largest community after French physicians. In Germany we see that the number of Romanian physicians in ten times higher than it was a few years ago. In England, the number of physicians coming from Romania grows every month,” Voiculescu said.

The health minister also showed that some doctors who left the country would like to come back. He added that he was working on a strategy in the field of health care, based on pillars like human resources and infrastructure.
