Greek Minister of Sea Transport: Greece and Romania can benefit together from promoting medical tourism

Greece and Romania can benefit together from promoting medical tourism, said the Greek minister of sea transport and insular policies of Greece, Panayiotis Kouroumplis, at the conference devoted to medical tourism, recently organized in the island of  Ithaca.

The Greek official added that, in his opinion, regional collaboration in the field could contribute to improving diplomatic relations among Balkan countries.

The Greek minister added that he would participate in a symposium devoted to medical tourism to be organized in Bucharest.

Giorgos Patoulis, the president of the Physicians’ Association of Athens, pointed out the importance of collaboration between Romania and Greece in the field of medical tourism.

“Greece is able to set up a base for medical tourism, by means of its physicians and of infrastructure. The domains most in demand are in vitro fertility, ophthalmology and plastic surgery. The fact that we can collaborate, we can place our forces together is very important for both parties,”Patoulis declared.

Doctor Andreas Vythoulkas, a specialist in infertility who has been working in Romania for years, said that Romanian physicians can offer quality services, comparable to any European country.
