Gov't to approve measures to allot money to drought-stricken producers

All the measures that must be adopted regarding the agriculture, including money allotment to all the drought-hit producers, will be approved at the Government meeting next week, Prime Minister Victor Ponta said at the beginning of the Government's weekly meeting.

'The Agriculture Minister drawn up all the measures we must approve for the end of this year for the agricultural domain, thanks to some funds we hope to receive in time to assign them to the drought-stricken producers. I was told that 400 million lei are unblocked for the Sectoral Operational Programme for Human Resources Development projects and will be the subject of discussion between the Ministry of European Affairs and the Labour Ministry. The money will be paid to the beneficiaries of projects as the reimbursements requests are further tabled,' Ponta said.

In the same context, Victor Ponta said the negative effects revealed by the audit conducted over 2010-2011 must be reduced and he requested Minister of European Affairs Leonard Orban to continue talks with the representatives of the European Commission.

'I ask you Mr. Orban along with all the other ministers to continue talks with the representatives of the European Commission. What's the use of saying that the big problems were in 2010 and in 2011 and that now we must pay the price? The only useful thing is our commitment to reduce the negative effects revealed by the 2010-2011 audit and to be able to unblock the funds, either we talk about the Regional Operational Program, competitiveness or environment,' the head of the Cabinet underscored.
