Cars: Over 6,000 ecological cars, acquired by the Romanians over 11 months: an increase of 150% for electric cars
The number of ‘gree’ cars bought by the Romanians over the first eleven months of the year, has increased by almost 50% as compared to the similar period of 2018, getting to 6,015 units, show the data of the Association of Producers and Importers of Vehicles (APIA).
At general level, the share of ecological cars in the total of domestic market is 3.8% as compared to 2.8% over the first eleven months of last year.
The data centralized by APIA show, at the same time, that the majority of the cars environmentally friendly are hybrid – with 4,260 units, up by 34,4% as compared to the period of January – November 2019. They are followed by electric cars – with 1,402 units (+ 150.4%) and plug-in (353 units, +22.6%).
The first places of the most traded fully electric cars are occupied, at eleven months, by: Renault – 378 units, Nissan (375) and BMW (214). The ranking continues with Volkswagen (203 units), Smart (161), Jaguar (34), Audi (18), the categories’ other makes (16) and Mercedes-Benz (3.).
At the same time, most hybrid cars sold in Romania during the period under analysis, were Toyota – 3,624 units, Lexus (226), Suzuki (109), Ford (88), Honda (79), Kia (67), Hyundai (64) and Land Rover (3). Similarly, in the ranking of the sales of plug-in cars the best are Mitsubishi – 133 units, Volvo – 74 units, BMW – 50 units, Land Rover (38), Porsche (35), Mercedes-Benz (10), Toyota (9) and Mini (4).
The APIA statistics mentions the fact that, only at the level of November, there were traded 732 ecological cars, up by 33.33% as compared to the month of October, when they sold 549 units.
During November, the sales of electric and hybrid cars had a share of 4.7% of the market, superior to that registered one month before (3.2%).
