Cars: Motor vehicles and motorcycles trade turnover up 5 pct in January-February
Motor vehicles and motorcycles trade turnover increased by 5 per cent in the first two months of the year 2019 against the same period in 2018, while turnover for market services provided to the population advanced by 16.5 per cent, according to data published on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Thus, in the said interval, the turnover of retail, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, gross series, increased by 5 per cent, due to growth recorded in trade of motorcycles, spare parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motor cycles (+42.9 per cent), activities related to trade of spare parts and accessories for motor vehicles (+11.7 per cent), maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (+5.3 per cent) and trade of motor vehicles (+1.1 per cent).
In January 1 - February 28 2019 compared with the same period of 2018, retail turnover of motor vehicles, motorcycles, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, adjusted series depending on the number of business days and seasonality increased by 5.1 per cent.
Market services provided to the population, gross series, in the period January 1 - February 28 2019, recorded a turnover by 16.5 per cent higher compared with the same period of 2018, due to hotels and restaurants' activity (+23.2 per cent), hairdressing and other beauty activities (+14.5 per cent), washing and drying of textiles and fur products (+10.5 per cent), gambling and other fun activities (+8.9 per cent), and tour operators' activities (+2.6 per cent).
Market services provided to the population, adjusted series depending on the number of business days and seasonality, recorded a turnover by 15.1 per cent higher in the January 1 - February 28 2019 interval against the same period a year before.
According to the INS, the retail turnover of motor vehicles, motorcycles, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, gross series, increased by 6 per cent in February 2019, due to growth in the trade of motor cycles, motor vehicles, spare parts and related accessories, against the previous month; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+23.8 per cent), trade of spare parts and accessories for motor vehicles (+10.0 per cent), trade of motor vehicles (+5 per cent) and maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (+0.3 per cent).
Turnover for retail of motor vehicles, motorcycles, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, adjusted series depending on the number of business days and seasonality, in February 2019, recorded a decrease of 1.6 per cent compared with the previous month.
In terms of the market services provided to the population, gross series, in February 2019, against the previous month, the turnover stayed at the same level. Drops were recorded in the washing and drying activities of textiles and fur products (-6.1 per cent), gambling and other fun activities (-0.8 per cent) and hotel and restaurants activities (0.1 per cent). Increases were recorded in the hairdressing sector and other beauty activities (+6.9 per cent) and tour operators' activities (+0.3 per cent).
Turnover of market services provided to the populations, adjusted series depending on the number of business days and seasonality, increased by 1.2 per cent in February 2019 against the previous month.
Moreover, turnover for retail, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, gross series, grew by 4.2 per cent in February 2019 compared with February 2018, due to growth recorded in the trade of motor vehicles, spare parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (+52.9 per cent), trade of spare parts and accessories for motor vehicles (+18.7 per cent) and maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (+3.8 per cent). Trade of motor vehicles dropped 3.1 per cent.
Turnover for retail, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, adjusted series depending on the number of business days and seasonality, in February 2019 and recorded a growth of 4.3 per cent in February 2018.
Market services provided to the population, gross series, in February 2019 have posted a 17.9 per cent increase in turnover against February 2018, due to growth recorded in the hotels and restaurants sector (+25.8 per cent), hairdressing and beauty sector (+23.1 per cent), gambling and fun activities (+12.1 per cent) and washing and drying of textiles and fur products (+9.1 per cent). Tour operators' activity dropped 5.2 per cent.
Market services provided to the population, adjusted series depending on the number of business days and seasonality, in February 2019 increased by 16.1 per cent compared with February 2018.
