Cars: Logan, Duster and Sandero in top 25 of best sold cars in Russia
Duster, Logan and Sandero were in the top of best sold 25 car models in Russia in October, according to data published by the Association of European Business, while deliveries of automobiles and light commercial vehicles went up by 17.3% to 148,597 units, compared to the same period of 2016, Reuters informs.
It is the 8th month on a row of sales increase by 10%, a sign showing that the Russian automobile market comes back after four years of decline.
Last month, the first place in the top of best sold cars in Russia was held by Rio, from Kia (8779 units), followed by Lada Granta and Lada Vesta from AvtoVAZ (8208 and 6629 vehicles), Creta from Hyundai (6460 units), Solaris from Hyundai (5110 units), Polo from Volkswagen (4089) and Duster with 4054 vehicles. Logan and Sandero rank 10th and 11th, with 3068 and 3048 vehicles.
Duster, Logan and Sandero are made by Renault.
The 10% increase of the Russian market continues for the third time in a row, there are chances that overall sales in 2017 may return at the high level of 2015, said Joerg Schreiber, the president of the Association of European Businesses.
In the first ten months of 2017, 1.27 million automobiles and light commercial vehicles, on the rise by 11.3% compared to the same period of 2016.
Over January-October 2017, the first place of best sold cars in Russia was held by Rio from Kia (82,311 units), followed by Lada Granta (75,910 units) and Lada Vesta (62,270 units), both from AvtoVAZ, Solaris (58,374 vehicles) and Creta (43,648 units), both from Hyundai, Polo from Volkswagen (38.088 units) and Duster (34,690 units). Logan and Sandero rank 13th and 14th with 24,311 and 24,223 vehicles.
The Association of European Businesses estimates that deliveries in the Russian market will grow this year by 4%, to 1.48 million units, compared to 2016 when automobile sales dropped by 11% to 1.42 million vehicles.
Renault has a participation of 50% to the holding company that controls AvtoVAZ, while the Japanese partner Nissan Motor Co has a package of 17.13%, while the Russian corporation Rostec owns 32.87%.
Together, Renault, Nissan and AvtoVAZ were responsible for a third of the 1.6 million new cars sold in Russia last year, but their combined sales dropped by 32%.
