Cars: January-May vehicle sales in Romania increased by 6.9pct year on year
The January-May vehicle sales in Romania increased by 6.9pct year on year to 46,222 units, while the national production decreased by 6.9pct against the same period of 2015, say the data published on Tuesday by the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA).
According to APIA data, cars were 77.6pct of the vehicles sold in the first five months of 2016 (35,889 units); the car sales advanced by 0.9pct YOY, while the trade in commercial vehicles went up by 34.3pct. APIA stresses that the imports of used cars soared by 25.1pct, pushing the used-to-new cars ratio to four-to-one.
The domestic Dacia brand leads the sales after five months in 2016, with 9,593 units, followed by Volkswagen, with 3,863, Skoda - 3,788, Renault - 2,581, Ford - 2,368, and Opel - 1,522.
The Diesel fuel vehicles dominate the registrations, weighing 56.1pct, almost similar with the same period of 2015 (56.4pct).
