Cars: Electrified automobiles almost double market share January through July
The market share of new green cars in Romania, in total car sales, reached, in the first seven months of 2022, 20.7%, almost double compared to the same period of last year, when the share was 11.2%, the data of the Association of Car Manufacturers and Importers (APIA) inform.
According to the market analysis, the number of electric and full hybrid automobiles sold in Romania between January and July 2022 was 14,485 units, of which 5,560 units (38.1%) are represented by 100% electrified models (BEV), 2,145 units (14.8%) plug-in hybrids (PHEV), and 6,820 units (47.1%) from the full hybrid category.
APIA statistics reveal that, in the top of the most sold electric cars, Dacia ranks first (with the Spring model) - with 2,982 units (+900% compared to the first 7 months of 2021), followed by Volkswagen - with 458 units (+24.1%), Tesla (425, +900%), Hyundai (357, +227.5%), Mercedes-Benz (187, +297.9%), Renault (163, +59.8%), BMW (140, +70.7%), Skoda (130, +132.1%), Peugeot (106, +37.7%) and Fiat (93, +520%).
At the same time, most of the full hybrid cars sold in Romania, from January to the end of July, were sold by Toyota - with 4,696 units, Hyundai (574), Ford (551), Honda (460), Renault (287), Lexus (107), Kia (67), Suzuki (35), Mazda (31) and Subaru (12).
Also, in the top sales of plug-in hybrid cars, Mercedes-Benz was in first position with 422 units sold, followed by Ford with 259 units, BMW (231), Hyundai (225), Volvo (198), Renault (146), Skoda (106), Jeep (103), Mitsubishi (99) and Volkswagen (87).
As for the situation of sales of green cars in July vs June 2022, APIA data reveals 2,632 units sold, compared to 2,455, as well as a market share in a slight decrease to 22%, from 22.5%.
