Cars: Dacia sales in the EU increased by 16.3% in June

Dacia sales recorded in June an advance of 16.3% in Europe (EU plus EFTA)and the market share of the car builder went up to 3.1% from 2.8% according to the statistics of the Association of the European Automobile Builders (ACEA) published on Friday.

Registrations of Dacia in Europe were last month 46,252 units, up against June 2015 (39,779 vehicles).

The French group Renault recorded in June an advance of deliveries of 19.9% while its rival PSA Peugeot Citroen reported a drop of 1.1%. The American company Ford recorded a decline of 1.1%.Surprisingly, the Volkswagen group, affected by the scandal of emissions, recorded an increase of the sales of 1% in June at 349,180 vehicles.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and Daimler reported an increase of the sales of 12.9% and 16.1% respectively.

In the first six months of this year, the Dacia deliveries recorded an increase of 7% in Europe,and the market share of the automobile construction kept at 2.8% between January – June 2016. Dacia registrations in Europe were 222,828 units, up by comparison to the similar period of 2015 (208,297 vehicles).

In the first quarter of this year the Volkswagen group recorded an increase of the sales of 4.2% at 1,924,703 units.

The French group Renault and PSA Peugeot Citroen reported an increase of the sales of 12.6% and 5.9% respectively, while the American company Ford had an advance of 5.3%.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and Daimler deliveries went up by 16.8% and 15.2% respectively in the period January – June 2016.

The Dacia company was taken over by Renault in 1999, relaunched in 2004 with Logan,Dacia has become an important player on the European auto market.
