Cars: Dacia car sales grew by 18% in France in November
7,315 new Dacia cars were sold in France in November 2013, on the rise by 18% compared to 6,199 units sold in the same period of 2012, say data published on Monday by the French Automobile Constructors’ Committee, according to Reuters.
Car sales in France dropped in November by 4.4% after two consecutive months of growth. There was a 4.4% decline in car registrations in France last month, to 138,298 vehicles, after an increase of 2.6% in October and 3.6% in September, the Committee announced on Monday.
Peugeot sales went up by 4.5% because of the new models launched – 308 Compact and mini SUVs 2008, while Renault sales went up by 3.8%, backed by the rising demand for Captur models.
Last month Volkswagen sales dropped by 9.5%, those of Nissan went down by 21% while Ford sales recorded a decline of 24.6%. Sales of the American group General Motors and of the German group BMW dropped by 21.3% and 13.5%.
The French Committee consider that the French car market will register a 6% decline this year, although previously they had estimated a drop of 8% for car sales in France.79,865 Dacia cars were sold in the French market over January-November 2013, on the rise by 8.4% against the 73,652 units sold in the same period of 2012. Higher sales were also recorded by Lexus cars made by Toyota (17.9%) and Fiat (10%). As number of units sold in the first 10 months, Lexus sold only 2,633 cars in France and Fiat 43,620 units.
Car registrations in France knew a drop of 7.1% over January-November 2013, to 1,614,606 cars.
