Cars: APIA: the auto market in Romania dropped over 34% in the first seven months

The auto market in Romania registered a contraction of 34.2% at the level of the first seven months of the year, against the same period of 2019, show the dates of the Association of Auto Producers and importers (APIA) published on last Monday. According to the analysis, starting with January to July, the general top of makes (motor cars and commercial cars) is led by Dacia with 20,252 units, followed by Volkswagen (5,779), Renault (5,667) Skoda (5.000), Ford (4.905) and Hyundai (4.064).

The sector of motor cars in the first seven months of 2020, a drop of 34% as compared to the similar interval of last year. The hierarchy of sales is led by Dacia, with 18,950 units ( -33.8% against 2019, market share 30,7%).

Next there is Skoda – with 5,000 units (-34.6% against the first seven months of 2019 and the market share of 8.1%), Volkswagen with 4,880 units (-24.5%, market share 7.9%), Renault -  4.678 units(-44,3%, market share 7,6%) and Hyundai - 4.064 units (-8,9%, market share 6,6%).

Similarly, as models with 8,353 sold units, Dacia Logan is the best sold after seven months of 2020, dropping by 46.6% as compared to the data of the previous year, followed by Dacia Duster (4.731 units, -25,9%), Dacia Sandero (4.576 units -7,6%), Renault Clio (2.074 units -44,6%) andSkoda Octavia (1.795 units -39%).

Depending on the type of fuel, between January and July the cars on petrol are most, 65.5% out of the total ( dropping by 69.5%). The ‘green’ cars, electric ones (100% and hybrid plug-in) registered a growing volume of 3.6%)as compared to the similar period of last year. As for subcategories, an important growth (38.6%) was for 100% electric cars, and a more consistent one of 115.1% for hybrid plug-ins.

On the other hand, the hybrid cars with electric powertrain ( the mild hybrid are not included) register after seven months of 2020 a negative evolution (-11.5%). In case of light commercial cars (minbuses and pick-ups) the APIA statistics show the fact that this category registered an important drop in July (-36.4%) and 27.9% respectively for the first seven months of this year.

According to the quoted source, at general level, most car acquisition was made in the already mention interval, by judicial  people who cover 58% of the total car acquisitions.
