Cars: 8.56% sales increases for ecological cars in Romania in last 9 months
Sales of ecological cars grew by 8,56% in Romania, in the last 9 months, compared to the same period of 2019 and reached 5,389 units, according to data of the Association of Car Manufacturers and Importers (APIA).
In this growth margin, the share of new electric and hybrid car share in the market of local cars was 6.4% on September 30, 2020, over the same period of 2019, when it was 4.1%.
According to centralized data, over January-September 2020, most purchases were in the category of hybrid cars – 3,427 units, on the drop by 8.2%, compared to the first 9 months of 2019.
Electric car sales recorded an increase of 40.8% to 1,407 units, while plug-in models recorded 55 units, 141.3% more, reported to the reference period.
Specialized statistics show that full electric cars lead the top of most sold cars after the first 9 months, as follows: Renault – 343 units, Skoda -306 units, Volkswagen (198), Hyundai (152), BMW (78), Smart (67), Nissan (56), Peugeot (55), Tesla (45) and Mercedes Benz (26).
At the same time, most hybrid cars sold in Romania were made by Toyota – 2,949 units, Lexus 139, Hyundai 115, Honda 106, Ford 78, Kia 26 and Subaru 14.
In the top of plug-in cars we find BMW -92 units, Volvo 82, Ford and Mercedes Benz 60 units each, Mitsubishi 61, Porsche 53, Hyundai 34, Skoda 23 , Mini 17 and Toyota 16.
In September, 827 ecological cars were sold in Romania, on the rise by 4.68% compared to August, the 790 units were sold, while the market share grew to 7.7% from 7.1%.
