Car Scrappage Scheme' to be supplemented with 30,000 vouchers this year
The ‘Car Scrappage Scheme' will be supplemented with 30,000 vouchers this year, Environment and Forestry Minister Rovana Plumb told a press conference on Monday.
'The Car Scrappage Scheme' will continue this year in a first stage with the release of 15,000 vouchers on the market and after the rectifications we plan to issue other 15,000 vouchers for natural persons. By the end of this month, we shall complete the procedure for releasing on the market a number of 15,000 vouchers corresponding to an amount of 57 million lei, and other 15,000 after the rectification of July,' the Environment Minister pointed out.
Rovana Plumb pointed out that the Environment and Forestry Ministry (MMP) made this decision in the citizens' benefit, but also for keeping the jobs in this area.
In the session this tear of the 'Car Scrappage Scheme' almost 24,000 cars older than 10 years were scrapped, while other over 2,500 new cars were purchased, according to the information of the Environment Fund Administration (AFM).
Since the beginning of the programme's 2012 session, on April 3, 23,949 used and older than ten years cars were scrapped and, at the same time, 2,526 new units were bought, for which 7,570 vouchers were used.
AFM earmarked this year 30,000 vouchers, each worth 3,800 lei, the largest part being assigned to natural persons, namely 25,580, out of which 25,382 vouchers were allocated.
Same as in 2010 and 2011, the quantum of the scrappage bonus stands at 3,800 lei (about 850 euros), in the form a nominal value voucher. Moreover, for the purchase of a new car a maximum of three vouchers can be used.
Through the ‘Car Scrappage Scheme' in the past two years 305,964 used cars were scrapped and 101,766 new cars were purchased, out of which 40,269 domestic carmakes.
