Airport traffic grew by 8.8% in 2014 to record level of 8.32 million passengers
Air traffic on the two Bucharest airports grew by 8.8% last year to the record level of 8.32 million passengers, while the number of airplane movement grew by 6.3% to 102,048 landings and take-offs, CNAB informed.
“The evolution of the number of passengers on the two airports of the National Airport Company Bucharest (CNAB) exceeds the general tendency registered at European level, ” shows a press release of the company which administers Henri Coanda and Baneasa Aurel Vlaicu airports (AIHCB).
Henri Coanda Airport recorded 8.31 million passengers and 91,788 aircraft movements.
Last year 83% of passengers on Henri Coanda Airport had as origin or destination airports in EU states. 31 air companies operate on this airport transporting passengers to 70 destinations. Last year two new air companies started operating there - Ryanair and Air Baltic. CNAB carries out its activity under the authority of the Ministry of Transports.
