*Compared to the previous month, in September 2014 the number of slaughtered animals and poultry and their carcass weight increased for all species.

September 2014 as against August 2014
The total number of slaughtered cattle and their carcass weight increased by 23.3% and by 24.9%, respectively. In the specialized industrial units, the number of slaughtered cattle and their carcass weight increased by 8.3% and by 6.5%, respectively. In September 2014, the share of the cattle slaughtered in the specialized industrial units was 24.5% of the total slaughtered cattle.
The total number of slaughtered pigs and their carcass weight increased by 11.6% and by 9.9%, respectively. In September 2014, the pigs slaughtered in the specialized industrial units represented 86.8% of the total slaughtered pigs. The number of pigs slaughtered in the specialized industrial units and their carcass weight increased by 5.2% and by 6.5%, respectively.
The total number of slaughtered sheep and goats and their carcass weight increased by 12.4% and by 16.4%, respectively. The slaughtering in the specialized industrial units had a share of 5.9% of the total slaughtered sheep and goats. In this type of units, the number of slaughtered sheep and goats remained constant and their carcass weight increased by 18.2%.
The total number of slaughtered poultry and their carcass weight increased by 4.6% and by 10.0%, respectively. The slaughtering in the specialized industrial units represented 85.0% of the total poultry slaughtering. In this type of units, both the number of slaughtered poultry and the carcass weight increased by 2.2% and by 12.7%, respectively.
September 2014 as against September 2013
The total number of slaughtered cattle decreased by 3.6% and their carcass weight increased by 1.7%. The cattle slaughtered in the specialized industrial units remained constant and their carcass weight decreased by 3.9%.
The total number of slaughtered pigs and their carcass weight increased by 10.4% and by 10.3%, respectively. The pigs slaughtering in the specialized industrial units increased both numerically and by carcass weight by 10.7% and by 11.7%, respectively.
The total number of slaughtered sheep and goats and their carcass weight increased by 3.2% and by 2.4%, respectively. The sheep and goats slaughtered in the specialized industrial units and their carcass weight increased by 19.0% and by 24.6%, respectively.
The total number of slaughtered poultry and their carcass weight increased by 11.4% and by 14.4%, respectively. In the specialized industrial units, both the number of slaughtered poultry and the carcass weight increased by 11.4% and by 16.9%, respectively.
In the analyzed months, the average carcass weight of the slaughtered animals and poultry presents slight variations.
In the period September 2013 – September 2014, the biggest increments of the carcass weight were
registered in December for pigs and in April for sheep and goats, when traditional slaughtering take place due to the Christmas and Easter holydays.
